My wife works all day and I’m fortunate enough to go to school and do my work from home, so I’ve been trying to cook dinner for her when she gets home. I have come to really enjoy it… my favorite dish so far has been this gnocchi w/ italian sasuage. So tasty.

My wife is a great baker (bakeress?) .. In fact, it’s come to be that I’m the ‘chef’ and she’s the baker. Earlier this week she baked a cake from scratch; it was delicious. So, that being gone (we ate the whole thing in 2 days) .. and us not having anything to snack on, I asked her to bake another one tonight. She was busy doing something, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and bake one myself. That’s right, I picked up the measuring cup, the flour, the sugar and the mixer (that I got her for christmas) and started putting things together. Turns out, it’s not all that hard. I mixed it all together, carefully following the instructions. Threw it into the oven (pre-heated to 375) and set the timer.

During the 20 min that it took to bake, I cleaned the dishes I used, made some icing and wiped up the mess I had made. Once the timer went off, I poured the icing on.. and let it cool.

It turned out really well, and although I’ll never say it’s better than my wife’s, it is not too bad if I do say so myself. :]

What i’m saying is this is something any guy (or anyone for that matter) can do. If you’re afraid that it’s hard or will take a long time or don’t think you can pull it off, I am saying give it a try. The worst that can happen is it’ll burn and you’ll just throw it away .. right. :]
