Please.. check this site out .. pass it along..  and think about it.

So, I go back and forth on who I think would make a good president.. (the reality is anyone is better than the current). But I hear things I like with all of the major candidates, I just never knew which one supported the most of what I was looking for.  Well, I just recently found this site which really helped me out. I urge everyone who is not set in their partisan ways, and even those who are, to check it out.. take the quiz and think about what comes up. I think we are in a time where we really need to think about what’s important to us and what we want for the future.  Here is the url in case you have issues w/ the link above: http://glassbooth.org/gbapp/index.php/Topic

I thought this was a great demonstration of how to take junk and turn it into something truely useful. This would be great for camping / hiking / or just when you’re out and need to charge something via USB..

HULU Video Hack

29Oct07

I put together a small hack that allowed me to view the hulu videos. I noticed someone had embedded a hulu video into a page somewhere and I got a little curious.. turns out it’s all indexed by an incrementing number.. made it pretty simple to throw together a browser.

Here’s one that brings me back to being a kid watching tv with my dad.

Oh.. ps. I think this hulu video interface is probably one of the best working ones I’ve seen so far. Very smooth and the streaming is quick.

OLED Screens

28Oct07

Here is the video of the OLED screens that sony has come out with.. pretty impressive..

This is something I ran across in an article about OLED (organic light emitting diodes) .. thought it was interesting..

Principle of Design Inertia
– Any change looks terrible at first.

Cahn’s Axiom
– When all else fails, read the instructions.

Clarke’s Third Law

Holten’s Download Principle
– The likelihood of receiving an error message during download increases the closer
you come to finishing.

Putt’s Law:
– Technology is dominated by two types of people — those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.

Chemicals

24Oct07

If I had a time machine, there is one thing that would be on my list of things to do. Go back to 1999 and go to the Chemical Brothers show at Redrocks, CO. It was dubbed ‘Rave on the Rocks’ by MTV I think, but it is just amazing. MTV used to have a link to the whole thing, but have long since gotten rid of it. Too bad too, cause it was probably one of my favorite performances that I’ve seen.. ever.

I am a subscriber to Netflix and I recently got ‘The Chemical Brothers: Singles 93-03′ and it had a track from that show in it and it made me remember. Such great music they make.

Anyway, enjoy this clip of ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ from the Rave on the Rocks..

French Toast Ingredients French ToastSo, I have a feeling that I’m am going to be doing quite a few of these on foods.. It’s easy to do and makes for .. well, content. So if you want to impress the significant other with some breakfast, here’s a quick and easy one.  I recommend that you get a flat griddle if you don’t have one.. I use it all the time for bacon, pancakes and french toast. I’m sure that you can use it for other things, just don’t know what else would use it. It’s pretty versatile though. All you need for this is 2 eggs, some milk, some vanilla extract some cinnamon and some bread. Take all of the ingredients except for the bread, put it in a bowl, mix it together really well then just dip the bread in the bowl, making sure that you cover all areas of the bread. Throw it on the griddle (that is already at about 350º F) and sprinkle a bit more cinnamon on it. Let it sit for a while (you can’t really burn it I don’t think) and then flip it.. Let it sit again and after a bit take it off and serve it up w/ some butter, syrup (I prefer pure maple) and even a small sprinkle of powdered sugar if you want.

1 Cake 0 boxesOk, so I’ve recently started cooking more.. My wife works all day and I’m fortunate enough to go to school and do my work from home, so I’ve been trying to cook dinner for her when she gets home. I have come to really enjoy it… my favorite dish so far has been this gnocchi w/ italian sasuage. So tasty.

My wife is a great baker (bakeress?) .. In fact, it’s come to be that I’m the ‘chef’ and she’s the baker. Earlier this week she baked a cake from scratch; it was delicious. So, that being gone (we ate the whole thing in 2 days) .. and us not having anything to snack on, I asked her to bake another one tonight. She was busy doing something, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and bake one myself. That’s right, I picked up the measuring cup, the flour, the sugar and the mixer (that I got her for christmas) and started putting things together. Turns out, it’s not all that hard. I mixed it all together, carefully following the instructions. Threw it into the oven (pre-heated to 375) and set the timer.

During the 20 min that it took to bake, I cleaned the dishes I used, made some icing and wiped up the mess I had made. Once the timer went off, I poured the icing on.. and let it cool.

It turned out really well, and although I’ll never say it’s better than my wife’s, it is not too bad if I do say so myself. :]

What i’m saying is this is something any guy (or anyone for that matter) can do. If you’re afraid that it’s hard or will take a long time or don’t think you can pull it off, I am saying give it a try. The worst that can happen is it’ll burn and you’ll just throw it away .. right. :]

Going Crazy

26Sep07

So.. this place is lame.. Monterey is a sleepy old town with nothing going on.. Pacific Grove specifically, is a town with absolutely nothing going on… No good coffee shops, no good bars, minimal good resturaunts. Our goal is to move to SF eventually as we love that city!If anyone reads this, post some thoughts.
