Educate!

I really like stories like this.. Paul Potts is a shy, non-confident guy who tried out for Britian’s Got Talent and blew them away.. Watch his audition video and maybe look up a few more.. He’s really pretty good (I know because I have a lot of opera experience as many of you may know) :]

Please.. check this site out .. pass it along..  and think about it.

So, I go back and forth on who I think would make a good president.. (the reality is anyone is better than the current). But I hear things I like with all of the major candidates, I just never knew which one supported the most of what I was looking for.  Well, I just recently found this site which really helped me out. I urge everyone who is not set in their partisan ways, and even those who are, to check it out.. take the quiz and think about what comes up. I think we are in a time where we really need to think about what’s important to us and what we want for the future.  Here is the url in case you have issues w/ the link above: http://glassbooth.org/gbapp/index.php/Topic

I thought this was a great demonstration of how to take junk and turn it into something truely useful. This would be great for camping / hiking / or just when you’re out and need to charge something via USB..

HULU Video Hack

29Oct07

I put together a small hack that allowed me to view the hulu videos. I noticed someone had embedded a hulu video into a page somewhere and I got a little curious.. turns out it’s all indexed by an incrementing number.. made it pretty simple to throw together a browser.

Here’s one that brings me back to being a kid watching tv with my dad.

Oh.. ps. I think this hulu video interface is probably one of the best working ones I’ve seen so far. Very smooth and the streaming is quick.

OLED Screens

Here is the video of the OLED screens that sony has come out with.. pretty impressive..

This is something I ran across in an article about OLED (organic light emitting diodes) .. thought it was interesting..

Einstein’s Rule:
– Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

Principle of Design Inertia
– Any change looks terrible at first.

Cahn’s Axiom
– When all else fails, read the instructions.

Clarke’s Third Law
– Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Belinda’s Law
– The chance of a computer crash is directly proportional to the importance of the document
that you are working on.

Holten’s Download Principle
– The likelihood of receiving an error message during download increases the closer
you come to finishing.

Putt’s Law:
– Technology is dominated by two types of people — those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.

Chemicals

24Oct07

If I had a time machine, there is one thing that would be on my list of things to do. Go back to 1999 and go to the Chemical Brothers show at Redrocks, CO. It was dubbed ‘Rave on the Rocks’ by MTV I think, but it is just amazing. MTV used to have a link to the whole thing, but have long since gotten rid of it. Too bad too, cause it was probably one of my favorite performances that I’ve seen.. ever.

I am a subscriber to Netflix and I recently got ‘The Chemical Brothers: Singles 93-03′ and it had a track from that show in it and it made me remember. Such great music they make.

Anyway, enjoy this clip of ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ from the Rave on the Rocks..
